Reserve

As promised, Coach Alloway’s season wrap-up follows: “After two straight defeats, the Reserves were determined to end their season on a  high note and did not disappoint the Dresden faithful, defeating Lebanon 4-0.  Hanover virtually dominated the entire field of play. Anna Testorf recorded the clan sheet in goal. Defenders Jordan Ray, Freddie Tagupa, Ailia Hedgepath(assist), Enna Prak, Rose Luttmer, Whitney Ladeau and Bella Johnson played an effective high line.  Ann Rightmire(1 goal, 1 assist) Britta Arvold (assist), Iris Levey(assist) and Haily Stewart(assist) controlled the midfield and sophomore Rosa Gomez put on a clinic recording 3 goals and an assist.
The team finished with an impressive record of 8-2-2 scoring 37 goals and allowing 10. Goalkeepers Lyra Bornholm-Collins and Anna Testorf recorded 6 shutouts. Rosa Gomez finished a breakout season with 14 goals and 2 assists while Freshman River Miles Finished with 8 goals and 4 assists. 18 players in all saw their names entered on the scoresheet and 9 players scored their first high school goals.  The team must say ‘farewell’ to senior Alice Adams (2 goals,2 assists) who will graduate in the Spring.  Assistant Coach Alloway summed up the season saying “The goals that Kelsey and I set for the Reserves are always the same. We want everyone to have a fun and positive experience and hopefully be better players at the end of the season than at the beginning.  The winning record is certainly nice, but even more rewarding, was being with them every day and seeing firsthand how this group came together and obviously enjoyed playing together.”

Varsity

The Varsity girls faced up to an always tough Lebanon side on Senior Night, Friday (10/25) and came away with a 2 – 0 win. The girls finished the Division II Regular Season ranked 1st with a 16-0-0 record and will be moving on to the playoffs. Look for schedule information here later this week.

October 13 – Moving Forward

October 13, 2019

All three teams continue to play well and are looking forward to the last two weeks of the regular season:

Reserve

The Reserve girls had a tough week, but continue to evolve as a team as they look forward to their upcoming matches. The semi-loquacious Coach Alloway noted the following regarding last week’s games, “A determined KUA squad came to the Dresden Fields on Tuesday and played the Reserves to a scoreless draw. Two days later the team lost a heartbreaker to hosts Thetford Academy 1-0 on a controversial penalty kick awarded to the home side in the final minutes of the game. The lone official had essentially kept the whistle in his pocket the entire game except for the last five minutes of the match when he generously awarded not one, but two PKs to TA; Both for handball inside the box. Ana Testorf repelled the first chance only to be placed in the same situation just minutes later. The players and coaches handled their disappointment with typical Hanover poise and dignity and appeared ready to move on almost immediately.
Assistant Coach Alloway commented, ‘This is a special team and I have no doubt that this loss, though tough to take, will serve to motivate us even more. We have been plagued by injury the past few weeks. Almost everybody has been asked to fill in at one time or another at positions they may be unfamiliar with or less comfortable playing making Coach Redpath and myself extremely proud of their efforts. Tri-captains  Rose Luttmer, Jordan Ray and Hailey Stewart do a marvelous job of keeping the team upbeat and focused.  We continue to get outstanding effort and play from every player.’ The team’s record now stands at 7-1-2.”

Last week:

  • 10/8/19 – 0 – 0 vs. Kimball Union Academy;
  • 10/10/19 – 0 – 1 vs. Thetford Academy (VT).

Upcoming:

  • 10/17/19 – At Home on Dresden vs. Hartford; 4:30pm start.

Jr. Varsity

The JV girls had no scheduled games this past week, but continue to work toward stronger and stronger play

Upcoming:

  • 10/17/19 – At Home vs. Plymouth; Start time 4:30pm – Senior Night.

Varsity

The Varsity girls worked steadily to take down both John Stark (Home) and Sanborn (Away) this past week.

Last Week:

  • 10/8/19 – Home win vs. John Stark – 8 – 0;
  • 10/11/19 – Road win vs. Sanborn – 9 – 0.

October 6 – Catching Up

October 6, 2019

Another big week for soccer – and another big week to come. Be sure to get out to the fields to see the action – the regular season has only has three weeks to go:

Reserve

The Reserve girls continue to play strong soccer, with a great mix of skills and determination. A somewhat less loquacious Coach Alloway summarized the past week as follows, “The Reserves were reminded this week of how tough life can be on the road. On Tuesday the team made the long trip to Nashua to take on Bishop Guertin. The team jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half which turned out to be the final result. River Miles and Rosa Gomez each found the back of the net. Iris Levey, who was pressed into duty at center back turned in a great performance helping Lyra Bornholdt-Collins and Anna Testorf  in the goal for the shutout. On Thursday the team traveled across the Connecticut River to take on the Hartford Jayvee and came back with a 0-0 draw, despite 14 shots on goal. That makes three clean sheets in a row! The team looks to get back to their goal scoring and winning ways on Tuesday when they host KUA and a team that features former HHS Reserve standout Maddie Bridge.

Last week:

  • 10/1/19 – 2 – 0 vs. Bishop Guertin;
  • 10/3/19 – 0 – 0 vs. Hartford (VT).

Upcoming:

  • 10/8/19 – At Home on Dresden vs. Kimball Union Academy; 4:30pm start;
  • 10/10/19 – On the road vs. Thetford Academy; 4:30pm start.

Jr. Varsity

The JV girls produced a tight win on Wednesday and a high scoring win on Friday of this past week:

Last Week:

  • 10/2/19 – Home win vs. Pembroke – 1 – 0;
  • 10/4/19 – Road win vs. Kingswood – 8 – 0;

Upcoming:

  • 10/11/19 – On the road vs. Sanborn at Sanborn Regional High School in far away Kingston, NH. Start time 4:30pm.

Varsity

The Varsity girls came out strong against a tough Pembroke side on Wednesday and emerged with a good win. A long bus ride and wait resulted in a slow start under the Wolfeboro lights on Friday, but the girls eventually found their way vs. Kingswood on Friday.

Last Week:

  • 10/2/19 – Home win vs. Pembroke – 5 – 1;
  • 10/4/19 – Road win vs. Kingswood – 9 – 0;

Upcoming:

  • 10/9/19 – At home on the HHS Turf vs. John Stark; Start time is 4:30pm.
  • 10/11/19 – On the road vs. Sanborn at Sanborn Regional High School in far away Kingston, NH. Start time 4:30pm.

October 2, 2019
